Asbestos Surveying

Eton Environmental Services are fully accredited by UKAS to ISO17020 to conduct management, refurbishment and demolition asbestos surveys.

Regulation 4 is a duty to manage and requires that a suitable and sufficient assessment is made of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in non-domestic premises. An asbestos survey conducted by qualified, competent persons is often the most suitable and effective method of locating and identifying ACMs in a building.  It is also a major step towards having an effective and legally compliant management plan. In an initial consultation with us we can recommend a suitable strategy and, if required, the type of survey you may require.

Management survey

A management survey is the standard survey for the day-to-day management of an occupied site.  Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.

Refurbishment and demolition surveys

Refurbishment and demolition surveys are needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out.  This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area where the refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned.  The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach.

On some larger sites a mixture of the above survey types can be used if different parts of the site have varying requirements.
